Bianka Speidl, senior researcher of the Migration Research Institute, said to Magyar Nemzet that about forty percent of the country’s population was already living below the poverty line before the tragedy, and tens of thousands of Syrian refugees had lost their livelihoods due to economic problems. The economy has already been devastated by the virus, more than two hundred thousand people became unemployed and at least one and a half million Lebanese are now living in poverty. Syrian refugees have already been living in poverty, and in the current situation, they are expected to attempt to leave the area, said the researcher.
