Szabolcs Janik, our deputy director said on Karc FM’s program “Hangoló” that the already pubplished French proposals give reason for cautious optimism, as they set the protection of external borders and the efficient operation of the Schengen area as a priority. Although the idea of distributing asylum seekers has not disappeared, information so far suggests that it could be replaced by financial support. The most concrete measure, however, is the creation of a so-called Schengen Council, which is promised to be operational by the beginning of March.
