In Europe it is not only the right-wing parties anymore who want to pursue policies based on strict border control. In the EU it has become the part of mainstream political discourse that migration management must be built on two pillars. The first one is very strict enforcement on the border, the second one is an asylum system that grants or refuses humanitarian protection before the applicant physically reaches Europe.
